It’s that time of year again when Bake Off is back on our tellies and we all want to be star baker! These Liewood cake moulds are perfect for rainy days with the kids and we have teamed up with mama, Helen, from Catching Crumbs to create the perfect cupcake recipe for you.
If you haven’t checked out Helen’s feed yet, then I urge you too, as with a new baby herself she has some amazing inspiration for healthy Baby Led Weaning treats!
Recipe - Marbled Cakes - Makes 8
Ingredients
100g unsalted butter, softened
100g caster sugar
120g self raising flour, sifted
2 large eggs
2 tbsp milk
2 tbsp cocoa powder
Method
1. Heat the oven to gas 4, fan 170oC. Put the moulds onto a baking tray.
2. Mix the butter, sugar, eggs, flour and milk together in a large bowl. Use an electrical hand mixer at medium speed for 1 minute or use a wooden spoon until combined.
3. Put half of the cake mix into another bowl, add the cocoa powder and mix.
4. Using a teaspoon, dot the mixture into the mould alternating with the chocolate and plain mix, until the moulds are 2/3 full.
5. Use a cocktail stick to swirl the mixture a few times and to ensure the ears of the moulds are filled properly.
6. Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes or until a cocktail stick comes out clean.
7. Allow to cool in the moulds for 10 minutes before gently easing them out. Cool on a wire rack.
8. Trim any domed areas from the cakes to create a flat base for them to sit on and show the details on the faces.
